# upgrades-scan: ranked fixes, item verdicts

A read-only sweep of a named surface returns a ranked list of opportunities, which the operator then disposes item by item. A checklist, not a vibe.

From the [Skills I've built](../index.md#skills) section of [The Muse Field Guide](../index.md).

## What it does

A read-only scan of a named surface: a repo, a library, a config, a device, that returns a ranked, evidence-backed inventory of updates, fixes, and enhancements, deduped against work already tracked or decided. It turns "anything else we should fix?" into a list with verdicts.

## Trigger

Naming a surface and asking for an upgrades scan (or /upgrades-scan).

## What you need

- A surface the agent can read without changing it.
- A tracked-work system the findings can be deduped against.
- An operator willing to dispose items one at a time; the scan proposes, it does not act.

## Setup sketch

Keep the scan read-only by construction, require evidence per finding, and route dispositions into tracked work rather than letting the scan fix things inline.
